This collection of 3D dessert plates is inspired by an ancient venetian tradition dated back to the XVIII century at the Doge’s court in Venice. In fact, during official gala dinners, guests were often delighted with some “table tricks”, such as Trionfo da tavola settings or trompe l’oeil plates. These kind of plates were decorated with ceramic fruits and vegetables, hyperrealist in shapes and colours.
Our Arcimboldo plates are made in one of the small ceramic factories that were working for the Venetian Repubblic at those days, and are still running nowadays. From their historical archive we choose six original molds and a warm but still shining white color, giving a contemporary look at this ancient tradition.
